Alison is a versatile artist designer and teacher. Following a degree in printed textiles at Loughborough University she set up Blooming Designs which was a successful textile design business selling print designs to leading high street fashion chains in the uk and internationally.
Since 2019, Alison has been running art workshops including Batik, Block Printing, Transfer Printing , Gel Plate and Still Life on the family farm at Meon Springs in Hampshire.
Information about the day
Transfer Printing or sublimation printing is a versatile and popular method to transfer designs and patterns onto synthetic fabrics. The process involves the use of disperse dyes, which are painted onto paper and then transferred onto fabric with heat using either an iron or a heat press.
On this workshop you will be learning how to transfer designs on to fabric using this method.
We will be experimenting with the transfer dyes on paper initially before transferring images onto fabric using stencils, leaves and plants to create exciting and unique outcomes.
The workshop provides a structured environment to grasp the entire process from start to finish, including surface preparation and design transfer and you will produce some exciting and unique sample pieces that can be worked into with embroidery or simply framed as works of art.
This workshop is suitable for all levels.

Materials to bring
All materials will be included. Alison will supply dyes, fabric and paper.
Plants : Please bring dried pressed plants and leaves and flowers to use ( Alison will bring some with her but it would be good if people bring some of their own )
People can bring their own brushes if they wish but Alison will provide a range of assorted ones to use as well.
