Painting A Still lIfe in Oils

With demonstrations and working from a still life we’ll be looking at the fundamentals of oil painting including :
Materials, solvents, creating an underpainting, Values- darks, lights and midtones,
Colour theory, temperature and colour mixing using a limited pallet
Additive and subtractive painting
The session is suitable for intermediate and beginners.
You will need to bring the following materials
Low odour mineral spirits/ Turpentine/white spirit
Pallette or disposable paper palettes
Pallette knife
Stretched canvas/canvas board/primed panel
Paint brushes: size 2 for detailed work, size 6 for broader strokes ( I have extra brushes I could bring along too)
Kitchen roll/old rags

Oil paints, useful colours are : Cadmium red, lemon yellow, ultramarine blue, lamp black, titanium white, yellow ochre, raw sienna
